Founded in a New York City apartment at the height of the AIDS epidemic, Nasty Pig has been on the forefront of sexy, edgy, and kinky sportswear ever since. Celebrities like Adam Lambert, Andy Cohen, John Cameron Mitchell, and Madonna have worn the brand publicly, and no doubt given it a boost in helping it become a globally recognized LGBTQ+ brand, according to Forbes. "Queer is who we are," said David Lauterstein, who co-founded Nasty Pig nearly 30 years ago with his husband, Frederick Kearney. "We are pride 365 days a year."

"Menswear can be very stale," said Lauterstein, who looked to Thierry Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier for inspiration. "We wanted to dress people up as their most sexy fantasy, to live out their fantasy through our clothing."

It's unlikely that when Lauterstein and Kearney created Nasty Pig three decades ago they foresaw their clothing would one day be sold in a luxury department store like Nordstrom, but that's exactly what's happening now at the Nordstrom Men's Store on 57th Street in New York, starting June 15. It's part of Nordstrom's Big Gay Swap Meet, a marketplace to support LGBTQ+ brands through June 25th.

"They have been so supportive and don't want to water down what we do," said Lauterstein. "They're giving us the license for us to feel like us. That's why we're doing it." Check out some of the brand's pieces from their new Elevate collection, which will be on display at Nordstrom through June 18.
