If you're a Peakie like me (a Peakie is a rabid Twin Peaks fan), you've been waiting, it seems, forever for Twin Peaks: the Second Season to come out on DVD. The day has arrived and you won't be disappointed by these 22 episodes from the final season of this bizarre, yet engaging cult TV series.

Lasting only 2 short seasons, Twin Peaks was the most talked about show back in 1990. Creator David Lynch brought his big-screen mentality to the small screen, and shocked and intrigued TV viewers with the small-town murder of Laura Palmer in fictional Twin Peaks. Her murder remained unresolved at the end of the first season. By the second viewers grew impatient and wanted that storyline resolved. Was it worth the wait? I won't spoil it for those of you that have never seen the show. Let's just say, who knew that incest and unknown spirits could go hand-in-hand?

The second season also introduced numerous characters, convoluted storylines that were never resolved, and enough cherry pie and coffee to feed an army. In this season Twin Peaks became extremely campy, in that it poked fun at conventional nighttime soap operas, while at the same time was a soap opera itself. How can you not laugh as actress Piper Laurie says to another bound-and-gagged character, "I can't understand you, you've got a thingy in your mouth."

The final episode of the second season is a cliffhanger and one that was maddeningly not resolved in the feature film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (which was a prequel instead). Perhaps someday us Peakies with see that cliffhanger wrapped up nicely. For now, we get to enjoy 22 episodes remastered with 5.1 surround sound.

The various interviews with cast members don't reveal too much that you probably knew already about the series. Sorely missing, once again, is an interview with actor Michael Ontkean, who played Sheriff Harry S. Truman. Whatever happened to him? There is also a brief behind-the-scenes from Season Two, and interviews with various directors of the episodes.

So sit back, grab a cup of Joe, and relive early 90's television with Twin Peaks: the Second Season.
