Tommy Boy

If you've never been on an Atlantis gay cruise, Tommy Boy has come to the rescue: just pop in the MOVE compilation, dim all the lights (sweet darling), drop down the mirror ball, and run your bathtub while sipping a Spritzer. Ta-da! You're only missing the inconvenient sunburn. But seriously, folks: DJ Manny Lehman has compiled a pretty solid selection of House tracks that should make for smooth sailing throughout the coming summer. It's a two-disc set of 10 tracks, two mixes each, organized by Vocal Mix and Dub Mix sets. There are big-voiced divas like Kristine W ("Walk Away"), Taylor Dayne ("I'm Not Featuring You,") and Ultra Nate ("Give it All You Got"). There are newly debuting divas, like Lulu Huges on "Give Some Love" (Antoine Clamaran & Mario Ochoa). And there are divas back from the brink of obscurity, like Billie Ray Martin - she of the mid 90s Euro dance hit "Your Loving Arms - on her new track "Undisco Me." But there are also some rocky waters in store. Camille Jones' "The Creeps," never ceases to make skin crawl; and, while I'm not sure who The Cliks is, I'd like to know who gave them permission to do a tone deaf cover rendition of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River." The choices aren't perfect, but Lehman is a pro at seamlessly mixing one hell of a showstopper voyage. It's worth going down with the ship.
