A central Pennsylvania mayor hosted a same-sex wedding at her home, but stopped short of performing the ceremony herself saying she's been advised it would violate her oath of office.

State College Mayor Elizabeth Goreham had vowed to perform such weddings if asked by any of the same-sex couples who have been granted licenses by a Montgomery County clerk who is challenging the legality of Pennsylvania's Defense of Marriage Act. The act defines marriage as a contract between one man and one woman.

Instead, Goreham hosted the wedding of Joseph Davis and Gregory Scalzo, of Bushkill, Pike County, and invited a local minister to perform the service.

Goreham says she supports same-sex marriage but acknowledged performing the ceremony herself would "violate my oath of office and I'm not going to do that."
