In New National Poll, Kayne West Earns 2% of Votes

Kanye West has earned 2% of the vote in a national presidential poll after he announced he is running for president this year, according to The Hill.

The poll was conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies on July 9 and asked people who they would vote for in November and did not mention West's name. The results showed that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden got 48% of the vote, beating President Donald Trump, who earned 40%. Howie Hawkins, a member of the Green party and Jo Jorgensen, a Libertarian, both earned 1%.

The pollster told The Hill that voters were asked who they would vote for again, this time mentioning West.

"If Kanye West is on the ballot in your state in the Presidential Election on 3 November 2020, for whom will you vote?" voters were asked.

With that questioned, the results changed a bit: Biden still earned 48% of the votes but Trump earned 39% with West and Jorgensen each earning 2%.

The poll came just a few days after West said he was running for president. Speaking with Forbes this month, the "Fade" rapper said his bid for the White House was not a stunt or a ploy to drum up interest for an upcoming album. He also said he's no longer a Trump supporter and that he's "taking off the red hat," referring to the president's trademark red "Make America Great Again" caps.
