Where in the World Is Aaron Schock? Partying in Brazil, Perhaps?

Friday January 8, 2021

On January 2, out, ex-Congressman Aaron Schock took to Instagram to post a New Year's pic from Brazil. In the photo, taken in Trancoso, Bahia, Brazil, Schock, casually dressed in white shirt and shorts, stands within a triangular, neon sculpture. He captioned the pic: "Pointed in the right direction #2021."

Earlier this year Schock came out as gay after years of speculation over his sexuality. Not long after Pink News reported he "came under fire for 'quarantining' in Mexico with a group of shirtless men. The former congressman faced a storm of criticism after he and other white gay men gathered in the resort city of Cabo San Lucas in April 2020, during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic."

Then on January 4, Schock "shared an image of himself and three others — including influencer Alec Rugo — gathered close together outdoors. None of the men wore face masks in the photo," Pink News reports. Rugo had earlier been seen in Cabo San Lucas with Schock in April.

"Rugo later shared a boomerang on his Instagram stories showing the men drinking espresso martinis in a bar. While only one of the influencers was in the video, all of the men were tagged."

The Instagram GaysOverCovid posted pics of Schock's Brazilian holiday on their Instagram Stories. The account, EDGE previously reported, is getting attention these days for calling gays breaking COVID guidelines. "GaysOverCovid has a simple message: 'Wear a mask. Stay home. Save lives. Don't join the GaysOverCovid.'" It first appeared last summer to provide a forum to call out COVID protocol violators," EDGE wrote.

@gaysovercovid's Twitter account Puerto Vallarta NYE posted pics from the accounts of Schock and Rugo with the following: "Nice to see upstanding citizens Aaron Schock and Alec Rugo having a low-key weekend at home"

It wasn't long before there's been a Twitter backlash. For instance, Schock was mentioned in this reply to a tweet from Lady Bunny:

And if other Twitter responses are indicative, Schock's aspirational New Year's hopes may be headed in the wrong direction:
