Watch: Trump Politico Steve Bannon Applauds Russia's Anti-LGBT Stance
Former Trump Steve Bannon claims Americans should be supporting Russian President Vladimir Putin because he is "anti-woke," reported Newsweek.
Bannon praised Putin just as Russia began launching the invasion of neighboring Ukraine and buttresses Trump's comments calling Putin's assault on Ukraine "savvy" and "genius."
"Putin ain't woke. He is anti-woke," Bannon told private military contractor Erik Prince, a guest on the Wednesday broadcast of Bannon's show, "War Room" on a far-right leaning media network.
"The Russian people still know which bathroom to use," Prince added, taking a swipe at efforts to make bathrooms gender neutral to be more inclusive.
Bannon took the opportunity to also praise Putin for his anti-LGBTQ stances.
"They don't have the flags, they don't have the Pride flags outside of their—" Bannon continued.
"They don't have boys swimming in girls' college swim meets," Prince responded.
The banter between the two far-right figures was bruising to LGBTQ people and the policies that protect them.
