Vandals Top Margaret Thatcher Statue with Pink Adult Toy
A £300,000 pound statue of prime minister Margaret Thatcher installed in the UK town of Grantham was vandalized for the third time since it was erected on May 15. The British tabloid the Daily Star writes that anti-Conservative Party vandals scrawled " 'Tories Out' in yellow spray paint on the base . . . and stuck a giant pink dildo to its head."
The tabloid adds: "However, adding insult to injury, the dildo was actually photoshopped onto the image of the attack after images of the graffiti went viral. Lincolnshire Police confirmed that they are searching for the culprits and that the attack is being treated as 'criminal damage'."
A spokesperson for the South Kesteven District said: "While SKDC understands the strength of feeling surrounding the memorial, it condemns the actions of those who seek to damage any public property, or otherwise break the law."
Since going up last May, the statue has been vandalized twice. "Just a few hours after its erection, someone was fined for throwing eggs at it, while two weeks later someone else vandalized it," writes the Daily Star.
"The target does actually have CCTV monitoring it, but that hasn't stopped people from taking out their frustrations about the UK's current situation on the sculpture."
