Nonbinary Department of Energy Official Sam Brinton Officially Fired
Nonbinary Department of Energy official Sam Brinton has been officially fired after mounting accusations of luggage theft and stolen goods upwards of $5000.
As reported by Page Six, Brinton was let go after multiple House Republicans called for their resignation and accused Biden of prioritizing "wokeness" over qualifications.
"Sam Brinton is no longer a DOE employee. By law, the Department of Energy cannot comment further on personnel matters," a DOE spokesperson told the Daily Beast on Monday.
The Post has reached out to the agency for comment.
The 35-year-old Biden administration deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy was reportedly canned after being charged with stealing a woman's suitcase from a Minneapolis airport in September and another woman's bag from a Las Vegas airport in July.
Brinton was appointed to their post in June. However, they were caught red-handed on security cameras taking a $320 bag from Las Vegas' Harry Reid International Airport's baggage claim area. The bag reportedly contained $3,500 worth of jewelry, clothing and makeup, according to police.
In another incident, Brinton made off with around $2,235 in valued goods from a woman's Vera Bradley suitcase from the baggage claim area at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport.
Brinton faces felony grand larceny charges and felony theft charges for the incident, punishable with up to five years in prison in Minnesota and up to 10 years of jail time in Nevada.
