Madonna Coming to Cause a Commotion in Tennessee with Tour
The Queen of Pop is coming to cause a commotion in Tennessee with her Celebration Tour.
As reported by Billboard, the icon is bringing her tour to the Volunteer State. But she isn't going to do it quietly or without controversy.
In a press release announcing the dates in Tennessee, the Queen took aim at the troubling anti-gay and anti-drag legislation developing around the country, including a Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed into law restricting drag shows.
If you remember, Bob the Drag Queen has already been announced as being a part of her tour, so this will surely ruffle some feathers. Not to mention Madonna's planned career-spanning performance, which is full of spicy moments.
"Tennessee Senate Bill 3 creates a new felony offense for anyone engaging in an 'adult cabaret performance' on public property or in any location where the performance 'could be viewed by a person who is not an adult,'" Billboard reports.
This means that the Queen and her crew could be breaking the law with their performance.
"The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it's creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color," said Madonna in a press release. "Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to f—k with a drag queen. Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community."
The Queen has spoken.
