New Yorkers can 'Ride with Pride' this week on one of 200 festively-wrapped Citi Bikes across the system, Motivate leadership announced today. New Yorkers can catch a glimpse of the rainbow-colored bikes not just on the streets of New York, but also along the Pride March parade route, when 20 Motivate and Citi staffers take them for a spin.

"We're proud of our diverse workforce and our diverse customers," said Jay Walder, President and CEO of Motivate, which oversees and operates the 6,000-bike system. "We're proud to partner with Citi to celebrate with New Yorkers, and Citi Bike valet service will help make it a little easier to get to and from the great events on Sunday."

"Citi Bike is a highly visible part of New York City's landscape, and we are proud the bikes will help highlight and support Gay Pride Week," said Lisa Dacey, Head of Marketing, Citi U.S. Consumer and Commercial Banking and CitiMortgage. "Citi is glad to enable Citi Bike valet service along the Pride March route, which should make it easier for people to attend the march."

Revelers can get to and from the Pride Festival and Pier dance on Sunday by bike, as the company will offer special valet service at select locations near the Pride route throughout the day. Even if a rack is full, valets will be available to dock your bike at a nearby station.

Citi is sponsoring Citi Bike valet service at the following locations:

  • 9th Ave & West 14th Street: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

  • Washington Place & Sixth Ave: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

  • Laight Street & Hudson Street: 2:30 - 10:30 p.m.

Some Citi Bike stations on the route will be deactivated or removed to make room for the march and spectators including:

  • Christopher St & Greenwich St

  • E 40 St & 5 Ave

  • W 37 St & 5 Ave

  • 5 Ave & E 29 St

  • Broadway & W 24 St

  • E 10 St & 5 Ave

  • W 4 St & 7 Ave

Citi Bike participation in Pride this year is part of a larger effort by the company to ensure that the Citi Bike program is going above and beyond to provide great service to all New Yorkers.

Since Motivate took over operation of the Citi Bike program earlier this year with financial backing from the CEOs of Equinox, Related Companies and other private investors, the system has seen major improvement in ease of use for riders- with replacements of the software and hardware at all 330 stations and 12,000 docking points, and a complete overhaul of each of the system's 6,000 bikes. Earlier this month, company leadership took the next step- rolling out a new and improved bike as it continues to meet growing demand and prepares for expansion that will begin this summer.
