New Hope Celebrates announces line-up for GLBT pride weekend
New Hope Celebrates, an independent self-formed committee of GLBT members of the retail, hospitality, and local New Hope PA community, has announced the entertainment line-up for this year's pride weekend, taking place May 18-20, 2007.
This year's event is a follow-up to the first of its kind weekend celebration held in October 2004. New Hope Celebrates plans to host the event every year in May.
Following is all you need to know about what's happening when.
FLYBOYS OF FLAG TROUPE HOUSTON. Wearing their trademark sunglasses, the Flyboys - one of only a few such troupes in the country to present choreographed, synchronized flag-dancing shows - provide a visual spectacle of moving color and light in their first Philadelphia-area performance. The Troupe performs three times throughout the weekend: May 19 at 11AM marching in the Over the Rainbow Parade; May 19 at 8PM in the Saturday Night Showcase, Stephen Buck Auditorium at the New Hope-Solebury High School (tickets are $35); and May 20 at 8PM in the Farewell T-Dance at the Raven Resort (tickets are $20).
THE GLAMAZONS. Described as "plus-size Pussy Cat Dolls," the Glamazons are a four-woman singing and dancing group from New York City's East Village. LADY BUNNY. Multi-talented drag artiste extraordinaire LADY BUNNY is known for her sky-high wigs, glitzy fashion sense, bawdy humor, Southern charm, and incomparable stage presence. She performs May 20 at 4PM at the Farewell T-Dance at the Raven Resort (tickets are $20).
THE LESBIAN AND GAY BIG APPLE CORPS. New York City's famed symphonic and marching band is one of the leading lesbian and gay musical organizations in the United States. They perform May 19 at noon at the Ferry Street Park. Admission is free.
