It’s Time for PRIDE :: Pull The Rainbow Out Of The SKYY!!!

When it comes to celebrating Gay Pride in NYC there are a few ways to go:

The Good: Throw a huge party with a kick ass gay theme and invite all of your (gay, straight or otherwise) friends. My theme would be a Reverse Oreo Cookie Three-Movie Marathon :: Who's that Girl followed by GO! and ending with The Owl and the Pussycat. (Madonna, Tyson Beckford and Babs = Reverse Oreo Cookie)

The Bad: Grab your lover, head to the nearest Catholic Church and start making out as everyone exits Mass.

The Ugly: Throw a huge party and not serve SKYY vodka.

Once again the boys and girls at SKYY have managed to throw off my drinking axis and come up with a laundry list of extra tasty and powerfully potent drinks for Pride. Even though my heart (liver and taste buds) belongs to the richly flavored infused vodkas (see my past reviews), SKYY has made me take a sobering look at vodka in general.

As premium vodkas go, SKYY holds its own against some of the bigger and more heavily advertised vodkas. After a few shots and a SKYY Twist and Twirl at my favorite bar (Jake's Dilemma, 430 Amsterdam Avenue, NYC), something came to me... No. Not the bouncers! SKYY vodka has a crisp, almost snappy taste to it. (OK, I'll admit that after the 7th shot the bouncers did come over to me, and not to buy me a drink... Note to self: The cue ball should not be used for Beer Pong!)

If you are throwing a Pride party hit the Skyy website for some great Pride themed drink ideas. I've listed two of my personal favorites below.

SKYY Twist and Twirl

2 oz SKYY Vodka

Skyy vodka has made me take a sobering look about vodka in general.

1/2 oz raspberry pucker

3 oz cran-raspberry juice

Mix all ingredients together with crushed ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

SKYY Do Ask, Do Tell

2 oz SKYY Vodka

2 oz lemonade

2 oz 7-up

Mix all ingredients over ice in a shaker and serve. Garnish with a slice of star fruit.

As always enjoy your liquor like you enjoy your sex. SAFELY AND RESPONSIBLILY!

They liked me so long as the liquor flowed at my house, but I haven't seen any of them around lately.
