Proud To Run Needs Your Butt
This is probably above and beyond for most of us, but Gerber/Hart Library and Frontrunners need you to help out early at the "Proud to Run" event on Saturday morning, June 28.
How early? Well, 6 a.m. for the volunteers and organizers. The race starts at 8 a.m.
The 27th annual run/walk is for a bunch of good causes, and if you show up to help out with the 5k and 10k runs and the two-mile fun walk, you can officially think of yourself as a morally superior person. You'll also get a "spiffy" Proud to Run T-shirt and a gift certificate redeemable at a future Gerber/Hart book sale.
Your job: You'll be directing the runners and walkers and staffing water stations.
Meeting place is Montrose Avenue (4400 north), east of Lake Shore Drive and north of Montrose Harbor in Lincoln Park. The race/walk starts and finishes there.
Proud To Run is presented in association with Frontrunners/Frontwalkers Chicago, Chicago's LGBT running and walking club. Officially the event celebrates lesbian and gay pride, but it welcome everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, who wishes to join us in the celebration and show their support.
FYI, to run costs $30 for both of the runs and $25 for the 2 two-mile walk. Proceeds go to Gerber/Hart, Frontrunners and other health and service organizations. Online registration for runners and walkers closes Thursday, June 26th at 6pm CT. Registration is available on race day from 6:45am-7:45am.
