PopUps: Anna Kendrick: All My BFFs Are Gay!

Thursday November 3, 2016

Anna Kendrick has been a longtime support of the LGBTQ community (let's not forget her epic Bob the Drag Queen-inspired Instagram post from earlier this year) and in a new interview with the Advocate, the actress reveals all her closest friends are gay.

"I don't even notice it, but then I'll think about my 10 closest friends right now, male and female, and honestly, they're all gay," she said. "Gay people have always been in my life.

"I remember my parents having to tell me as a kid that there were people, like some people in our church, who objected to homosexuality," Kendrick added. "I was like, 'Wait, so they're idiots, right?'"

Kendrick, who is promoting her new memoir "Scrappy Little Nobody" (out Nov. 15), said she has been aware of the LGBT community since she was young.

"I did Broadway when I was 12, years later, when I got settled in L.A., I lived in West Hollywood, where I was a mini-celebrity because of 'Camp,'" she said, referencing her 2003 film where she played Fritzi, an outcast.

"Now I'd be so excited to play an insane gay chick washing another girl's underwear by hand," she said. "I underestimated how much people would embrace and find the humor in that."
