PopUps: Mariah Carey Comments on International Scandal Involving Ex-Fiancé
"I don't know where the motherfucker is," Mariah Carey recently said when asked during an interview with Israel's Channel 2 News if she knows the whereabouts of her ex-fianc James Packer.
The Australian businessman is currently in embroiled in a scandal involving a corruption investigation connected to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Carey, who was engaged to Packer in early 2016 but has since broken up, told a reporter in Israel that she has nothing to do with the scandal. Police are reportedly looking for the billionaire for questioning, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
The R&B icon is currently in Israel to promote her new partnership with local skincare line Premier Dead Seas Cosmetics, Entertainment Weekly points out.
"How am I supposed to know? I really have no idea about the political stuff that goes on. I don't. I don't pay attention to it," Carey said of the scandal involving her ex.
THR reports authorities have been looking to speak with Packer since March, as part of an ongoing investigation. The publication writes, "Packer is a close friend of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, having been introduced to him by New Regency's Arnon Milchan."
Israel's Channel 10 reported last year Packer allegedly gave Netanyahu's son Yair "luxurious holidays around the world and use of his private jet, implying those were also extended to the prime minister and his wife Sara."
THR writes that the local news station also claims "Packer gave Sara Netanyahu and Yossi Cohen, the head of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, tickets to Carey's concert in Israel in August 2015, several weeks after the then-dating Packer and Carey visited the country together and had a private dinner with the Netanyahus."
Commenting further on the scandal with local entertainment show Erev Tov, Carey said:
"Oh, now they want to blame me? Someone wants to blame me for something now? What did I do? I didn't do anything. Honestly I feel bad about that if that happened to anybody, I don't want anyone to have any kind of bad issues for themselves and I'm just trying to be, trying to do me, and that's it. That's all I can do, is be responsible for my own self."
