Before the infamous meat dress, before the LGBTQ anthem "Born This Way," before duetting with Tony Bennett, before earning fans of little monsters and before her "Bad Romance," Lady Gaga gained fame for her debut breakout single, "Just Dance."
The electro-pop jam turned 10 years old on Sunday. Produced by RedOne, "Just Dance" was released on April 8, 2008, and launched Gaga's career entering Billboard's Hot 100 chart at no. 76 on August 16, 2008. Five months later, it topped the chart at the no. 1 spot, staying there 22 weeks. The track went to no. 1 across the world, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the U.K.
"Just Dance" was the lead single from Gaga's "The Fame," which provided more hits for the singer like "Poker Face," "LoveGame," and "Paparazzi"
Celebrating "Just Dance," Gaga took to Twitter on Sunday - the song's 10 year anniversary - to thank her fans.
"I can't believe it's been ten years since the release of Just Dance," she wrote. "It's very emotional and I am so grateful to little monsters for sticking by me all these years. Cheers to many more, filled with love & bravery to be yourself. I love you so so much."
The following day, Gaga added:
"I love you little monsters 4eva. The last decade's been a blast I will never forget. I can't wait for the next. If you don't have any shadows you're not standing in the light."
