PopUps: Did Justin Bieber 'Break Up' with His Hunky Pastor?
Now that Justin Bieber is engaged, does that mean his relationship with his hunky pastor Carl Lentz is over?
The duo have made headlines in the past for their close friendship. Lentz is a pastor of Hillsong NYC, a megachurch and pastor to the stars. He also is said to be the reason why Bieber canceled his tour in 2017. When speaking with The Associated Press last year, Lentz explained how he councils the 23-year-old pop superstar and reformed bad boy.
"It's the same way I would try to handle criticism in my own life. You never want to get to the point where you're so callous that it doesn't register but you do want to get to a place where you can control what it does to your spirit," he said.
Though the pair has been spotted hanging out several times over the past few years, reports are now surfacing that Bieber and Lentz may be on the outs - just days after the "Sorry" singer confirmed his engagement to model Hailey Baldwin.
TMZ is reporting that Lentz has yet to congratulate Bieber on his engagement and that's allegedly because the two had "a major falling out." The website caught up with the pastor, who was in Sydney, Australia Friday when a photographer asked Lentz about Bieber - and things get awkward.
When asked if he will be officiating Bieber's wedding, Lentz adamantly shakes his head no and says, "No idea about any of that." The pastor is then asked if he has any thoughts about Bieber's engagement and he says, "No."
"Are you happy for them?" the photographer asks Lentz about Bieber and Baldwin.
After a pause, Lentz says, "Uh yeah. Sure."
A source close to Bieber also told TMZ that the singer became angry with Lentz awhile back and ended their friendship. TMZ does not report a reason why the pair of parted ways.
Both Bieber and Baldwin have been heavily involved in the Hillsong Church.
