PopUps: Britney Spears' Upcoming Album is Reportedly Delayed
Bad news for Britney Spears fans.
The pop icon recently announced that she was taking an "indefinite work hiatus," citing her father's recent life-threatening health crisis, resulting in the postponement of her Las Vegas residency "Britney: Domination." Variety is now reporting that Spears' decision will also delay her forthcoming album.
The publication reports a new album was pegged for the launch of the residency and that out producer and songwriter Justin Tranter (Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani) serves as an executive producer on Spears' next LP. Tranter acknowledged he's working on the album.
"I'm beyond excited to be involved," he told Variety, but did not speculate on a possible release date or if the album will even be released this year.
"Everything is on hold right now until Jamie is better. But once he is, she will resume working on the album with Justin. Right now, she's taking some time off to deal with these family issues," Spears' manager Larry Rudolph told Variety.
Napoleon and Tabitha a.k.aa Nappy Tabs, Spears' creative directors for "Domination," said they anticipate a delay of six months to a year for the show.
"Domination" was slated to start on Feb. 17 for 32 shows.
Spears' next album will be her tenth LP and the follow up to 2016 album "Glory."
