PopUps: Ryan Murphy Gives Details on 'AHS: Hotel,' 'Scream Queens'
Co-creator of the popular FX anthology series "American Horror Story" and the upcoming Fox comedy-horror show "Scream Queens" revealed some vital information about both programs at Comic-Con last weekend.
Most notable was the reveal of the characters' names on "American Horror Story: Hotel," the fifth season of "AHS."
Murphy said Matt Bomer, a newcomer to the show, will play Donovan, Kathy Bates will play Iris, Angela Bassett will play Ramon, Evan Peters as Mr. March and Sarah Paulson will be Hypodermic Sally.
"Everybody on this side of the table are bad boys and girls this time," Murphy said, looking at the cast, Variety reports.
The show runner added that per her request, Lady Gaga will also be bad on "Hotel."
"She said, 'I want to be evil,'" the show creator said about his first meeting with Gaga, who approached him for the show. "I said, 'You came to the write place.'"
"It was one of the weirdest things of my career ever," Murphy said of Mother Monster. "'Horror Story' has a lot of fans obviously and I get calls from some people...how it happened with Gaga is she wrote and said, 'I love the show, would you consider putting me on it?' And I wrote back, 'Yes. CAPS CAPS...' The best call ever is 'Please wait for Gaga'...and she got on the phone and could not have been lovelier."
He added that Gaga will film all her episodes during a one window period of time, due to her busy schedule. He also said don't expect the "Judas" singer to belt out any numbers on "Hotel." Unlike Jessica Lange, who will not be on "Hotel" - the first season of "AHS" without the leading lady, Gaga is sticking to only acting.
Once again, Murphy confirmed to fans that all seasons are connected.
"This season, you'll see more and more and more of that. Characters from previous seasons will come check into the hotel," he said, according to Variety.
Murphy also talked about "Scream Queens," but didn't give too much away. He said, however, the killer will appear in the first episode.
"If you go back and watch that episode at the end, I think it's very clear," he said.
He also said that although "Queens" is an anthology series, unlike "AHS," "there are survivors that go on to a different location and the characters that you have grown to love, many of them will go on to the next season - and many will not."
