PopUps: ...And Mare Winningham Joins 'AHS: Hotel' Cast
"American Horror Story: Hotel," the upcoming season of the FX horror anthology, has checked in a new cast member: "AHS" veteran Mare Winningham, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Winningham, 56, is returning to series for a third time. Her first role came during "American Horror Story: Coven" when she played the abusive mother of Evan Peters' character. She also appeared in "American Horror Story: Freak Show" last year playing the older, alcoholic sister to Pepper the pinhead (Naomi Grossman) - a major role as it was the first time in the "AHS" series that proved the different seasons were shown to be connected. (Winningham's character sends Pepper to the asylum that is the location of Season 2.)
On "Hotel" EW reports the "St. Elmo's Fire" actress will play the hotel's laundress who works closely with Peters' character, Mr. March.
Winning ham joins "AHS" vets Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Denis O'Hare, Emma Roberts, Wes Bentley, Finn Wittrock, Chloe Sevigny. New comers include leading lady Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Max Greenfield and Naomi Campbell.
"Hotel" is the first season without Jessica Lange, who has starred in all previous "AHS" seasons.
