PopUps: Is Sam Smith Readying a Comeback?
After a string of humiliations last year, crooner Sam Smith has been noticeably absent from the music scene and social media. He's only tweeted once in 2017 (about the war in Syria) and hasn't released new music since 2015. But it looks like Smith may be working on a comeback.
The Oscar winner was spotted on Timbaland's Instagram account over the weekend. The two posed for a photo together, with the producer writing: "It was a pleasure working this man," adding the hashtags "#puretalent, #goodvibes, #makingmemories, #timeless, #music."
Timbaland is known for his work with Missy Elliott, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and Aaliyah. He has a long list of production credits, including Cher, Beyonce, Kanye West, Drake, Demi Lovato, 50 Cent and many more.
Smith's debut and only album "In the Lonely Hour" came out in 2014. In 2015 he released "Writing's on the Wall" for the James Bond film "Spectre," which won a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Song. He was also featured on Disclosure's single "Omen" in the same year.
